"Masks"
Paintings by Edward Harsen
I started the Masks as a sort of distorted self-portrait, what may get portrayed is still indicative of who is behind the face. I like that they are big enough to be somewhat confrontational. I decided on the split image, with a low-profile frame, after the first piece. The split allows the viewer to move in and out of perspective, so there is a touch of dynamism. As I explored what the masks could be, I suddenly had twelve pieces!
